3179) Admiring Judas (2/2)

(…continued)  Yesterday’s EmailMeditation told the story of Don and Carol Richardson’s mission work among the Sawi people of New Guinea.  It is one of the most amazing stories in the history of missions.  My brief account only begins to describe this powerful work of the Holy Spirit.  Today’s blog consists of three videos that tell much more of the story.  If you were thinking about watching a basketball game, a soap opera, a Netflix movie, or the news today, forget about that, and take the time to watch these videos.  You will be blessed.

Don Richardson wrote of his family’s work with the Sawi’s in a book called Peace Child.   The story has also been made into a 25 minute movie, which is a tremendous testimony to the transforming power of God’s grace.  You may view Peace Child here:

In 2012, Don Richardson, then 77, and his three sons, returned to the tribe that he and his wife went to over 50 years before.  An incredible 15 minute film of this visit titled Never the Same can be viewed at:

Matthew 28:18-20  —   Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 1:8  —  (Jesus said), “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

O God, you are the Father of us all, and so you can never be content until all your children come home to you, and your family is complete.  We ask you to put into our hearts a deep concern for those who still do not know you and love you.

Give us patience and skill, to appeal to those whose hearts are hard, and whose minds are shut.  Give us wisdom and understanding, to enlighten those who do not know the truth.  Help us to prove the worth and the power of your Word to those who despise it, not only by our words, but also by the quality of our life.

Fill us with missionary desire to win those who have never heard the message of the Christian faith.  Give us such a grasp of the truth, and such a skill to commend it and defend it, that we may be able to console, convince, and persuade those who have refused it or misunderstood it or perverted it.

Lord Jesus Christ, grant that the day may quickly come when everyone will be united into your family; the day when everyone shall know you and love you, from the least to the greatest; in your name we pray.  Amen.
