3059) The Wood Wide Web

You are able to read these words because you are connected to the World Wide Web.  Three-fourths of the world’s people are.  Therefore, you have the capability to contact any of these six billion people, anywhere in the world, in seconds, and communicate with them.  That is, of course, only one of the many things that the world wide web can do for you.  Amazing!

However, this web is not nearly as amazing, or as significant to life on our planet, as another web—THE WOOD WIDE WEB.  No, I am not trying to sound like Elmer Fudd (google ‘old cartoons’).  This is a real thing.  Perhaps you never heard of it.  I had not heard of it until yesterday, and you will hear about it today.

Prepare to be astonished as you go to the link below:

“For all of its power and global scale, it’s possible the largest and most important social media network on our planet isn’t the World Wide Web.  Instead, scientists have identified and studied underground communication systems–made of fungi and roots—that enable trees to exchange nutrients, nurture their offspring, transmit warnings, and relay information to their neighbors.  These networks (collectively nicknamed the Wood Wide Web) link an estimated 90% of our planet’s vegetation.  Explore this incredible phenomenon and marvel at another crucial provision for life on Earth.”

–The John 10:10 Project

——————————————————

A central tenant of Darwin’s theory of evolution is the survival of the fittest and the competition between species in the fight for life.  The ‘Wood Wide Web’ displays the exact opposite of such competition.  Such interconnectedness, cooperation, and communication between species is strong evidence of a divine creator; and not the result of the blind, undirected hand of chance and natural process.

Just as we know that the world wide web is the result of the work of many intelligent people, we can safely assume that there is an intelligent designer behind the wood wide web.  Therefore, isn’t it unfortunate that so many people in our nation consider it illegal to even mention that possibility in a public school?

You see, there are only two possibilities here.  Either everything you see in our natural universe got here all by itself, or, something from outside of our natural universe put it here.  What that “something from outside” might be is another question, and opens our minds to other realms.  But it does not look to me like everything got here “all by itself.”  That is no more likely than to think that our laptop computers, cell phones, internet and world wide web access, all “evolved” from the old dial phones on our end tables.

All things bright and beautiful,
